The Forgetting

Engineered memory erasure - the tool Season 3 suggests the whole silo system is built on.

Updated through S3E7

Season 3 reframes the silos as a memory problem. In the Before Times, Dr. Victor Crnkovich proves specific memories can be erased and rebuilt; in the present, Juliette is dosed to forget what she learned outside and fed curated "reminders" instead. Once forgetting is a designed feature rather than a side-effect, the relics, the Pact, the banned magnifier, the fake history and the cleaning all read differently.

What's confirmed in canon
S3E1Juliette wakes with no memory of the truth and is fed curated daily "reminders" that the silo is at peace because she came back.
S3E2Dr. Crnkovich's memory-erasure work (on prisoners, then recruits, then Charlotte) establishes that forgetting can be manufactured and targeted.
S3E6The population-wide reset moves from threat to (apparent) action: Camille orders a Vitamin D+ boost into the water supply and tells Water Filtration to shut off the osmosis filters so the additive is not stripped out. But the S3E6 barrels may not match the earlier labeled Vitamin D+ drums - fuelling a strong "the barrels were switched" / "Camille lied" theory that the reset was intercepted before it reached the water.
S3E7The drug turns from plot device into a philosophical and mass-casualty threat: the Mission Diary records the death toll of the memory drug during the old rebellion, so forgetting is no longer only personal harm - it kills at scale. The doctor's moral framing raises the deeper danger that repeated memory removal may not just erase facts but reshape empathy, guilt and moral judgment.
Where the community lands

The leading Season 3 reading is that memory control is the silos' true operating system - the Pact, the relic bans, the manufactured history and even the "rebellions" are downstream of engineered forgetting. The open fight is memory vs system.

Q2How many died from the memory drug in the rebellion the Mission Diary records?
Q3Was real Vitamin D+ actually added to Silo 18's water, or were the barrels switched?
