Tim Robbins plays Bernard, the Head of IT who becomes Mayor and stands between the residents and the truth. He enforces the Pact and the Order, controls the Legacy and the Algorithm, and by the S2 finale is exposed to the silo's deepest machinery. Reported dead in the S3 premiere, he is revealed alive in S3E4 - badly burned and hidden in the Digger Void.

S3E7He becomes the historical-relic oracle: he walks Juliette through the Mission Diary - which records the mass death toll of the memory drug during the old rebellion - and reveals that IT has hunted a spiral-bound notebook for centuries. His context reframes the memory drug as a mass-casualty tool and points the search toward the notebook (which fans tie to Helen).

S3E9His "Farewell": Bernard goes into the airlock and out to clean. The spray-then-fire sequence and his green-world vision turn his exit into a major clue about how cleaning kills, and recast him from hidden IT oracle to the season's sacrificial "final witness" to the airlock mechanism.

The single most-debated character: authoritarian villain, true-believing Pact loyalist, or a custodian who genuinely thinks concealment is the only thing keeping ten thousand people alive.
