S3E6Approved by the Voice for the Silo 17 mission alongside Patrick Kennedy - valuable for his grasp of IT, Legacy, the Safeguard and hidden systems. The Voice approves the pair while privately suggesting they will never make it, hinting at an outside hazard or interception before they reach Silo 17.
S3E7Leaves Silo 18 at night with Kennedy, sees a clear Milky Way, and is ambushed outside by an active surface defense. His fate is left deliberately unclear: Kennedy's voice comes through on the radio, but Lukas's does not - the episode separates "Kennedy made contact" from "Lukas is safe." The community read is that he is likely alive but injured, separated, or unable to transmit.
Where the community lands
A leading fan theory holds that the Algorithm gave Lukas specific knowledge that sent him racing to the top of the silo to try to prevent the Safeguard from firing. In S3 he is alive and hiding in the mines - and his apparent horizontal digging toward another silo is what most alarms the Algorithm.
