S3E6"The Drive" is literal: much of the Before Times plot is Daniel and Helen trapped in a remotely controlled van that delivers them to Senator Rosalind Thurman and her "help save the world" pitch - the recruitment point that pulls them into the silo project. Daniel's drilling technology is increasingly framed as foundational to how the silos get dug.
S3E7His role sharpens from "investigator pulled in" to "technical asset the founders need." The episode makes his drilling / tunnel engineering directly relevant to how the silos are built - the "boring drill guy" now looks like a literal architect of the silo system, not just a man caught in the conspiracy.
S3E8In "Gray Goo," Senator Thurman and Per Stensen tell him and Helen the whole truth: the US threatened Iran, Iran set off a dirty bomb, and Charlotte's group was sent in as bait to destroy an Iranian nanotech facility whose runaway "gray goo" is what ends the world. His path from investigator to complicit insider becomes undeniable.
S3E9At the silo event he and Helen are separated: Daniel is pulled toward Silo 1 while Helen is pushed toward Silo 18, with Charlotte, Anna and Henry's roles in the placement left deliberately murky - the structural bridge into the finale.
S3E10The reveal: centuries later Daniel wakes from cryo in Silo 1 as "Troy," memory repeatedly wiped and rebuilt, now the specialist Silo 1 deploys against rebelling silos - the human face behind the Voice. He authorises the mass extermination of Silo 17 and offers Juliette a truce, yet fragments of Daniel survive; troubled by a woman he cannot place, he questions Victor Crnkovich, whose posthumous message finally gives her a name: Helen Drew.
