Timeline

Every reveal from the Before Times to the Season 2 airlock cliffhanger. Book-sourced history is flagged as such.

The Before Times

The world above, ~300 years ago - and how the silos came to be.

7 events
~2049-2052 TheoryMajor

The silos are constructed

In Hugh Howey's trilogy, 51 silos (50 populated plus a command silo) are built before the surface becomes uninhabitable. The show has not fixed these dates on screen.

S3 · Before Times TheoryMajor

Daniel Keene and Helen Drew uncover the conspiracy

A congressman and a journalist investigate a dirty-bomb attack and are pulled into the plan behind the silos - the show's human-engineered origin, told in Season 3's Before Times track.

S3 · Before Times CanonMajor

Charlotte Keene pulls Daniel into the conspiracy

Navy F-35 pilot Charlotte Keene points journalist Helen Drew toward her brother Daniel and tells him to get onto Senator Rosalind Thurman's Iran Committee - the move that draws the Keenes into the plan behind the silos. After the Washington dirty bomb, her squadron escorts the retaliatory strike on Iran.

S3 · Before Times Canon

Daniel and Helen chase the dark-web cassette

In the Before Times, Daniel Keene and journalist Helen Drew track a dark-web source holding a cassette recording tied to the fighter-jet event. Daniel hears something the audience does not; the source's home is later ransacked - another analog relic on the show's growing low-tech evidence trail.

S3 · Before Times Canon

Daniel and Helen realise it's a bigger conspiracy

Daniel and Helen understand their investigation is part of something far larger. Helen warns him not to go home - it will not be safe - and fans increasingly read the whole pre-silo trail as managed or baited.

S3E6 · Before Times CanonMajor

Daniel and Helen are delivered to Senator Thurman

The literal "drive": Daniel Keene and Helen Drew spend the episode trapped in a remotely controlled van that ends at Senator Thurman and her "help save the world" pitch - the recruitment point that pulls them into the silo project. The van dialogue confirms Helen protected a source at career cost, reinforcing her as a future carrier of resistance relics (the Pez).

S3E7 · Before Times Canon

Bernard's relics; Helen's notebook and Daniel's drill

Bernard gives Juliette relic context - the Mission Diary, which records the mass death toll of the memory drug, and a spiral-bound notebook IT has hunted for centuries. In the Before Times, Helen is seen writing in a spiral notebook and signing an NDA (a candidate for that lost relic), and Daniel's drilling technology becomes directly important to how the silos get built.

Silo history

The Rebellion, the erased records, and the fall of Silo 17.

2 events
Year 0 AR TheoryMajor

The Rebellion is crushed; the records are erased

In the novels, Salvador Quinn, then Head of IT, destroys the silo's history - servers wiped, books burned - and blames the rebels. The show surfaces a version of this through the Book of Quinn.

Decades ago CanonMajor

Silo 17 goes outside and dies

A failed uprising empties Silo 17 - its people walk out and die, leaving only a boy, Solo, sealed in the IT vault.

Season 1 · 2023

Holston cleans; Juliette walks over the hill and lives.

3 events
S1E1 · May 5, 2023 CanonMajor

Sheriff Holston asks to go outside

After Allison's death, Holston cleans and dies over the hill, leaving Juliette his badge and the first thread of the mystery.

S1E6 · The Relic CanonMajor

The forbidden hard drive surfaces

George Wilkins's hidden drive of pre-Rebellion data becomes the engine of Juliette's investigation.

S1E10 · Outside CanonMajor

Juliette refuses to clean and survives

Sent to clean, Juliette does not wipe the lens, walks over the hill, and lives - shattering the central lie that the outside kills instantly.

Season 2 · 2024-25

Silo 17, the Book of Quinn, and the Safeguard.

4 events
S2E3 · Solo CanonMajor

Juliette reaches the dead Silo 17

She finds a flooded ruin and its lone survivor, Solo - a warning of what Silo 18 could become.

S2E8 · The Book of Quinn CanonMajor

Salvador Quinn's note becomes central

Quinn's message reframes the tunnel, the Order, the Legacy and the Safeguard, and ties Meadows and Lukas into the same chain.

S2E9 · The Safeguard CanonMajor

The Safeguard is revealed

The silo's ultimate fail-safe surfaces - the machinery built to reset or end a silo that learns too much.

S2E10 · Into the Fire CanonMajor

Season 2 finale: rebellion and an airlock cliffhanger

Juliette returns to Silo 18 amid open rebellion; the finale ends on a fire/airlock cliffhanger and a pre-silo flashback that hints at the origin.

Season 3 · 2026

Now airing weekly. The Before Times, on screen.

20 events
S3E1 · July 3, 2026 CanonMajor

Mayor Juliette wakes with no memory of the truth

Season 3 opens with Juliette installed as Silo 18's mayor and amnesiac after the incinerator fire - fed daily "reminders" that the silo is at peace because she came back. She realises the gaps are not an accident: someone wants her to forget what she found outside.

S3E1 · July 3, 2026 CanonMajor

Bernard is reported dead - and Robert made sure of it

The premiere reports Bernard did not survive: burnt and poisoned in the airlock, his body taken to the incinerator by Robert, who says he personally ensured nothing was left. S3E4 reveals this as a fakeout - which recasts everything Robert has done since.

S3E1 · July 3, 2026 CanonMajor

The Before Times timeline opens

A second timeline set ~300 years earlier follows congressman Daniel Keene and journalist Helen Drew, whose investigation into a looming catastrophe suggests the silos were a deliberate plan rather than a desperate response to disaster.

S3E2 · July 10, 2026 CanonMajor

The memory doctor: forgetting can be engineered

Dr. Victor Crnkovich, a memory specialist at the Heidi Stensen Clinic, is introduced treating Charlotte Keene. His trials - on prisoners in debtor nations, then on military recruits - establish that specific memories can be erased and rebuilt, seeding the silos' central tool of engineered forgetting.

S3E2 · July 10, 2026 Canon

Billings investigates a disappearance

In the present, deputy Paul Billings works a missing-person case inside Silo 18 - a thread fans tie to the silo's supply chain and to how much of its stated history can be trusted.

S3E3 · July 17, 2026 CanonMajor

Juliette fights the drug and reunites with Lukas

Learning she has been secretly dosed with a memory-erasing drug, Juliette starts spitting out her "vitamins" and regaining herself, hunting for Lukas. Caught in a poison-gas fumigation of the mines, she gives up her mask to a miner and is struck down - and is saved by Lukas, who reveals himself, becoming the emotional anchor pulling her memory back.

S3E3 · July 17, 2026 CanonMajor

Camille gasses the mines; the Safeguard's trigger is named

Camille reasons that Lukas may be tunnelling horizontally toward another silo and asks the Algorithm how close the silos are - Silo-to-Silo contact trips the Safeguard, which is why the Pact bans lateral digging. She floods the mines with poison gas without warning, proving mass gas-kill infrastructure exists. The Algorithm also tells her she was chosen for her talent at deception.

S3E3 · July 17, 2026 Canon

Orla Kent's body is found

The missing person deputy Billings has been chasing is found dead: Orla Kent's body surfaces, confirming Silo 18 is not only politically unstable but materially and physically dangerous beneath the surface.

S3E4 · July 24, 2026 CanonMajor

Bernard is revealed alive in the Digger Void

Fleeing deeper into the silo, Juliette finds Bernard alive - badly burned and hidden in the Digger Void. His death was a fakeout, recasting Robert Sims' actions since the airlock and putting the old IT knowledge (the Safeguard, the Algorithm's limits) back in play.

S3E4 · July 24, 2026 CanonMajor

Nurse Amy saves Juliette; Camille's hit is botched

Camille sends her enforcer Emerson to kill Juliette, but Nurse Amy sedates him - and it emerges Amy had already been tapering Juliette's memory-suppressant before Juliette began refusing it. Cornered by Sims, Juliette is saved by Shirley. Her memories of George resurface.

S3E4 · July 24, 2026 Canon

Orla Kent's murder: rebar, not gas

The coroner rules Orla Kent was killed by a rebar blow to the head days earlier - not Camille's mine gas - and dumped in a sealed tunnel. Billings' case becomes a murder investigation tied to missing Supply materials.

S3E5 · July 31, 2026 CanonMajor

Juliette remembers - and the Safeguard-pipe fix surfaces

Robert Sims hands Juliette the Pez dispenser and her memory floods back. She recalls that Silo 17 capped its Safeguard pipe - a physical way to defuse the fail-safe - and rushes to tell the others. Sims is confirmed as the hidden architect of the rescue: he spared and hid Bernard with Walker and Carla, turning Bernard into a damaged but crucial source of silo knowledge.

S3E5 · July 31, 2026 CanonMajor

The Critical Supply clock: two years of light bulbs

Carla uncovers a threat inside Critical Supply - the silo is down to roughly two years of the light bulbs its farms need for food production. The slow-death clock reframes Orla Kent's murder as a supply-theft killing and points at the mines. Radios return with unusual emphasis, positioning Walker to reach Solo / Silo 17.

S3 · through Sep 4 Theory

Ten episodes, one per Friday

Season 3 runs weekly through September 4, 2026, cross-cutting Juliette's present with the Before Times as the origin of the silos comes into view.

S3E6 · August 7, 2026 CanonMajor

The Silo 17 mission is set - Lukas and Patrick approved

Silo 17 turns from theory into an active mission: a team is to be sent to rescue its children and learn how Solo capped the Safeguard pipe. The Voice rejects Knox and Shirley (losing them would raise Silo 18's risk) and approves Lukas Kyle and Patrick Kennedy - then warns they will never make it. Fans read the "weaker picks" as Juliette's real choices: Lukas for hidden systems, Patrick for relics and smuggling.

S3E6 · August 7, 2026 CanonMajor

Camille runs the Vitamin D+ water reset - or does she?

After Juliette pulls her somewhere "with no cameras," Camille appears to obey the Voice: she orders a Vitamin D+ boost into the water supply and tells Water Filtration to shut off the osmosis filters. But the S3E6 barrels may not match the earlier labeled Vitamin D+ drums, leaving it ambiguous whether the population-wide memory reset actually happened or was intercepted.

S3E6 · August 7, 2026 Canon

Impossible travel times expose hidden routes out of the Mines

Working Orla Kent's murder, Billings and Hank find that mining figures under head of mining Ed Harwood appear to move between the Mines and Supply in roughly ten minutes - impossible through the main stairs. It is the strongest evidence yet for secret tunnels, lifts or smuggling routes running out of the mining operation, and Shirley is revealed pregnant.

S3E7 · August 14, 2026 CanonMajor

The Silo 17 mission goes out - and hits an active surface defense

Lukas and Patrick Kennedy leave Silo 18 at night, see a clear Milky Way (no light pollution), and are ambushed outside by an active kill layer - buzzing, gunfire, "threat neutralized." The outside is no longer just poisonous air; it is a layered, policed defense. The Voice claims the threat is handled, but a final radio transmission says otherwise.

S3E7 · August 14, 2026 CanonMajor

Radio contact: Kennedy reaches Silo 17, the kids are alive

A coded radio message confirms at least Patrick Kennedy reaches Silo 17 and reports the children are alright - contradicting the Voice's "neutralized" claim and making the Voice look non-omniscient. Silo 17 becomes an active information source (how it capped its Safeguard pipe), not just a rescue target. Lukas's fate is deliberately left unclear.

S3E7 · August 14, 2026 Canon

The Judicial bombing is aborted - but the explosives were planted

Juliette's reckless backup plan - blow open Judicial to expose the Safeguard pipe system and cap the poison pipe - is called off seconds before detonation once the radio contact lands. The explosives are deactivated but already in place, a dangling hazard. Camille threatens Robert to make him tell the truth, fracturing them and weakening the "secretly coordinated" read.
