Martin

Character

The chained Marine beneath the Town. Source of Boyd's blood.worms and the 'tip of the spear' warning.

Updated through S3E8

Martin (Robert Verlaque) is a former U.S. Marine who was trapped in Fromville and tried to escape through one of the faraway trees. and was delivered not to freedom but to the dungeon far below the Town, where the Music Box Monster held him for years. The blood.worms feeding under his skin would not let him die. When Boyd reached the dungeon well at the start of Season 2, Martin became the show's first real witness to what lies beneath: he warned that the Town's monsters are only 'the tip of the spear,' cut Boyd's arm and passed the worms into him. 'my blood is your blood now'. and then died. Almost everything Boyd later learns about hurting the creatures traces back to that transfer.

Where the community lands

Martin is canon but deliberately under.explained. Open threads: what he learned in his years below, why a faraway tree routes an escapee into the dungeon rather than out, and what the 'tip of the spear' actually points at. His S3E8 reappearance to a time.walking Julie. long after dying in S2. suggests the dungeon sits outside the Town's normal timeline.
